What are your greatest strengths?

Hello and welcome to RVM LEARNING Blog
Another very important interview question is: “What are your greatest strengths?”
Yes, this seems like a softball question isn’t it?
It's good if you feel so but be prepared.
While answering this you shouldn’t sound self-centered or proud. Neither you can risk by being humble.
The basic key strategy as earlier discussed in the “Tell Me about yourself” question is to fit yourself in accordance with the interviewer's wants and needed.
Before attending any interview, you need to prepare a list of your greatest strengths, you need to think of a few specific examples to showcase each strength you mention. You can choose an example from the most recent achievements of yours.
And from the list prepared, you can try and match the example which best fits the interviewer’s requirement.
Even the most experienced person can sometimes find it difficult to answer such a question and its not obvious that you will be asked to speak about your strengths but yes, it’s important to be prepared for something like this rather than blurting out things which don’t look compelling.
To make it a little easier for you we have listed few important strengths below, which will give you a hint of what can be listed, and you can match some examples with them to add a little taste of reality to it.

1. Good communication skills: I am good at communication skills, I am a good speaker, as I am an extrovert by nature and have been a host at many events, have been evaluating performances, stage programs, and hosted few events at college as well as at my last organization.

2. Good fit with corporate culture…someone to feel comfortable with…a team player who meshes well with the interviewer’s team
I am a self-starter, I easily gel with people around me, I also prefer to work in groups.
Try quoting some examples like: --

From your last job where you were involved in some project or you had added to the team output or
From your education where you handled team or group during presentation or projects

One specific example that comes to my mind is when our team was assigned with an Adhoc project in my last organization and everyone were like we won't be able to finish the project within the deadline given, so I was the one who motivated everyone that we can finish this and that too within the stipulated time, I gathered everyone and made a strategy, divided the work among the team looking at each team members capability to finish the assigned task and then started working on the project and have submitted it before the deadline, the onsite client base was very happy with our team's performance and looking at the way I have planned the work and accomplished it, I was also awarded at the month-end meet.

Few other strengths are listed below, you can go through them and practice by giving an example to each strength.
1.Intelligence……management “savvy”.
2. Honesty…. integrity…. a decent human being.
3. Likeability…positive attitude…. good sense of humor.
4. Dedication…willingness to walk an extra mile to achieve excellence.
5. Making goals and achieving them.
6.Enthusiasm…high level of motivation.
7.Confident…. healthy…. a leader.

You need to find which strength is more relevant to you and try finding examples for the same, from your past experiences.
You need to practice all these traits. If you don’t practice and rehears them again and again, you may forget them during the interview and may not sound genuine to the interviewer.
Tomorrow’s victory in today’s practice.”- Chris Bradford
